Why a Transition Fair?

Because of IDEA Part B, Virginia school divisions are evaluated according to many indicators of student success as they relate to postsecondary outcomes. A Transition Fair is a great way to improve several indicators, such as graduation rates, postsecondary enrollment and career exploration. But, it’s also a great way to connect students and their families to opportunities and agencies that they’ll need after high school, as IDEA intends educators to do. Lastly, Transition Fairs can be a great way for students to practice soft skill-related goals and meet postsecondary-related goals in the IEP.
